Breck's Imperial Challenge

The Imperial Challenge is a unique, wild, and fun pseudo-triathlon, a test of athleticism, a rite of spring, and all around-community party where local folks and uphill enthusiasts alike gather in Breck to race to the top of Peak 8 at 13,000 feet above sea level!

Participants start in town at 9,600 feet above sea-level and race to the base of Peak 7 at Breckenridge Ski Resort on foot or on bicycle, then transition over to uphill skis or splitboards and skins to make their way uphill to the top of Peak 8 before racing back down again. This route is no easy feat with nearly 4,000 feet of elevation gain and approximately 10 miles of human-powered travel.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Spandex, tutus and costumes are always encouraged!
