The new Canvas collection fills a void in Blizzard's predominantly directional lineup of skis. It's the same methodical craftsmanship you've come to love, applied to a design that wants to surf and stomp in the same run. A stable construction and a rockered shape—built the Blizzard way.

The Canvas 108 holds its own on hardpack and in pow. Just ask Blizzard athlete Connery Lundin, who helped shape the line and now reaches for the Canvas 108 as his daily driver. It's up to the task when Lundin is looking to throw a butter three off a Palisades Tahoe cliff and still has enough juice to handle a high-speed runout.

The lightweight wood core comes with ample rocker, combined with generous taper in the tip and tail, making this a freeride weapon. What comes as a bit of a surprise is the thin metal strip that runs down the middle of the ski; we're not talking about burly metal sheets like you might find in other Blizzard lines like the Anomaly series. The modest metal in the Canvas 108 helps retain the ski's camber profile, provides consistency on groomers and prevents washouts on big stomps.

The shape of the Canvas 108 provides excellent flotation in deeper conditions. The tip and tail rocker and lightweight core really shine when venturing into tight trees and other technical terrain. The only area where the lightweight and playful nature isn't an asset is when you encounter frozen chunder.

Blizzard's entry into the modern freeride world should put other manufacturers on notice. Not only does the ski nail it when it comes to buttering and big airs, but it's also very capable of crushing anything from couloirs to spines.
