When K2 introduced the Omen Team last season, it marked a shift in their freestyle ski lineup. Replacing the popular Poacher, the Omen was designed specifically to bridge the gap between high-level competition performance and everyday creativity. Sitting at the top of K2’s freestyle-focused skis, the Omen provides a premium option for skiers looking to push their limits in terrain parks and beyond.
At the heart of the Omen is its playful yet stable construction. The ski combines a lightweight aspen wood core with K2’s innovative carbon braid technology—carbon fiber woven into the ski’s core to deliver impressive energy and responsiveness. This blend gives you exceptional pop and rebound, making it easy to spin off jumps or playfully butter.Â
This ski particularly shines for intermediate to advanced skiers who spend significant time in the terrain park but want a ski versatile enough for creative skiing across the entire mountain. At 96 mm underfoot—the widest ski in K2’s Omen lineup—it provides a reliable platform, ideal for skiers who appreciate added stability for landings. While its main strength lies within terrain parks, we found it just as fun for hunting side hits, boosting rollers and putting your own stamp on the mountain.
The ski’s standout visual identity comes from a collaboration with Berlin-based artist Julia Schimautz, whose artwork captures the eight phases of the lunar moon cycle with sequential framing that evokes a sense of motion even when the ski is static. Paired with a vivid color palette that contrasts against snow, the design reflects the Omen’s blend of power and creativity—both on the hill and in the lift line. With competition-proven performance from athletes like X Games Gold Medalist Colby Stevenson and halfpipe standout Birk Irving, the Omen confidently balances elite-level precision with a playful, accessible ride for everyday freestyle skiing.
