After a full overhaul of the QST line in 2026, Salomon brings back an unaltered Blank, which continues to impress our fall-line-focused testers with its stout, directional shape. This is the widest in the collection, carrying the big mountain and powder responsibilities for all of the brand’s freeride athletes.

The most notable strength of this ski is its ability to hold its composure without feeling overly demanding as you plow through refrozen chunder and slushy bumps. This is thanks to Salomon opting for cork inserts rather than metal laminates to keep the ski damp. Rounding out the core is a combination of wood and carbon, keeping the flex malleable while still being energetic and lively.

Although the Blank rocks a more directional shape, the generous tip and tail rocker has significantly improved the ski’s float in fresh snow, but throwing these sticks sideways is not its strong suit. The blunt, square tail shape wants to lock the ski into the turn rather than drift.

Rounding out the updates with a slightly larger 19 m turn radius in the 186 cm length, the new generation of the Blank feels more stable throughout the turn compared to the first generation, which could feel twitchy at times. At 112 mm underfoot, the Blank could be considered for daily driving by those who prefer a wider plank, no matter the conditions, but we’d recommend it as a powerful powder ski for chargers taking the fall line straight to their secret stash.
