Salomon has a new boot joining the Shift Alpha collection this year; the S/Lab Shift Alpha BOA. The brand designed this boot alongside its team of freeride athletes, who require reliable downhill performance and appreciate a comfortable climb.Â
Salomon delivers just that with a durable plastic bar called Freespine on the back of the Alpha boot to connect the upper cuff to the lower shell. This ensures a more direct energy transfer between the cuff and lower shell, improving reactivity between the leg and ski. To deliver even more downhill precision, the BOA Fit system works with a supportive strap around the lower foot to pull the foot against the shell, which helps prevent heel lift.Â
A redesigned walk-mode offers an easy switch and slipper-like feel on the uphill. When it’s time to make your descent, a horizontal tab on the back keeps you securely locked in ski mode so all you have to do is focus on the line ahead.Â
