The Snowpeak is built from goat leather, with a stretchy spandex upper-cuff that runs from the wrist over the back of your hand, stopping just short of the fingers. On long approaches, that spandex panel dumps heat while the goat leather palm and fingers take the abuse of skinning and bootpacking.
A waffle liner adds subtle warmth without choking off airflow on the climb. Auclair skips a waterproof membrane here to keep weight down, relying on a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish to shed moisture instead. Once you top out, the slim profile slides right into a larger glove, keeping your bare skin protected from the elements.
