Tempest 94 | 2027

Following a successful redesign of its Nomad line, Icelantic is showcasing another major overhaul for 2027. The new Tempest replaces the directional Riveter, bringing a livelier core, increased camber and an exciting shape that truly makes it stand out in the directional all-mountain category.

The Riveter was a great ski, made with a wood core and typical camber underfoot. The result was a ski that was very versatile on and off piste, but too middle-of-the-road for some skiers.

The Tempest, on the other hand, has a ton of carbon, with four strips running down the center and three large chevrons at the tip and tail. This gives the ski more energy out of turns, more stability in the tail and less tip chatter, without the muted feel that metal can often produce. The ski also gets a wider shovel than the previous generation and Icelantic doubled the amount of camber for a snappier, more energetic attitude.

The Tempest 94 is an adaptable yet engaging ski for the directionally minded skier. We'd go as far as to say this is our favorite ski that Icelantic has ever produced. The 94-mm waist is great for cruising around the resort in everything from firm conditions to a few inches of fresh. If you're an expert skier going mach chicken, you won't find it to be extremely damp or powerful but if you like the feel of a directional shape and want something energetic and manageable, this ski might just be the one for you.
