The Unleashed collection has been making a name for itself the past couple seasons for its stout feel underfoot with a more freestyle-oriented shape. Arguably the most versatile of the Unleashed series, the 108 is a beefy all-mountain freeride ski that is an ideal daily driver for skiers who gravitate to creative riding and natural features.
The Unleashed 108 pairs a stiff wood, carbon and metal core with a rocker-camber-rocker profile, which creates a super solid feel underfoot, and a ton of stability for big landings. In the Unleashed series, Nordica tailors the amount of metal in each width to match the ideal terrain of each ski, meaning the 108 has proportionally more metal underfoot than the 114 and less metal than the 98. It’s a playful ski when in deeper and softer snow but holds on strong when arcing through chunky hardpack. The waist width paired with a rockered tip and tail make riding in a few inches of fresh feel like walking on water, but bear in mind that the weight of this ski isn’t going to keep you fully on top of a significant amount of cold smoke. For a true powder levitation experience, we recommend checking out Nordica’s new Unleashed 120.
Overall, the Unleashed 108 impressed our mixed bag of testers, both park rats and ex-racers, looking for a twin-tip ski that can kick it into high gear. The early rise in the tip creates a seamless transition when thrown up on edge and the rockered tail prevents the ski from getting locked into the turn so you can pivot and schmear whenever your creative expression desires. The Unleashed 108 isn’t as burly as Nordica’s Enforcer line, but it’s perfect for skiers who want pop to leave the ground and stability to drive upon landing.
