Skiing at Whistler Blackcomb
Whistler Mountain's gentler Emerald 6 Express and Harmony 6 Express zones provide great intermediate groomers like Harmony Ridge and Rabbit Tracks. We also recommend checking out the Big Red Express, which is a high-speed 6-person chair that houses easy skiing greens and blues. Whistler Mountain doesn't just feature gentle terrain. The top of Whistler Mountain via the Peak Express is no joke, with direct access to The Couloir and The Cirque runs, which are both double blacks and have some seriously rowdy terrain. The Peak Express also provides access to the legendary Peak to Creek run, an 11-kilometer descent that is North America's longest single trail and is one of our favorite descents, but it's truly a leg burner.
Blackcomb Mountain's 3,414 acres deliver more advanced terrain. The 7th Heaven lift provides above-treeline bowl skiing with some of the resort's best views and access to the Showcase T-bar, which brings you to another amazing bowl. The Glacier Express also accesses expert terrain, including Spanky's Ladder's steep chutes and the Blackcomb Glacier, offering a near-backcountry experience within the bounds of the resort. At the bottom of Glacier Express, take the Jersey Cream lift to access some steep trees and Whistler Blackcomb's legendary terrain parks, which are designed for the best freeskiers in the world.
Planning Your Trip
As the biggest ski resort in North America, Whistler Blackcomb provides over 8,000 acres to explore across two mountains connected via one of the most epic gondola rides in the world. The Village is expansive, with lodging just feet away from the main gondola and there are plenty of places to stay in the surrounding area.
Getting There
Whistler Blackcomb is easily accessible from several major airports. The nearest airport is Vancouver International Airport (YVR), about 2.5 hours drive from the resort. YVR offers direct flights from most major North American cities. International flights from Europe and Asia also frequent YVR, making it a global gateway. Once at YVR, travelers can rent a car, take a shuttle or use Whistler’s resort-based bus services, such as the Whistler Shuttle or Pacific Coach Lines, which offer direct transfers from the airport. Alternatively, for a quicker option, private taxis or rideshare services are available.
Parking at Whistler Blackcomb offers several options, with both paid and free spaces available throughout the resort. For those aiming to park close to the village, Day Lots 1-3 are conveniently located, charging by the hour or full day. These lots are free after 5 pm, making them a good choice for evening visitors. Additional parking can be found at Day Lots 4 and 5, which offer lower rates. Creekside, a great alternative, offers a free underground parkade, though it can fill up on weekends.
