Mountain Hardwear
Mountain Hardwear has been researching and developing gear for high-mountain pursuits since 1993 and the new Mythogen kit is a culmination of all that experience. Decked out in Gore-Tex Pro, this kit is just as waterproof and breathable as the original Gore-Tex but the durability of the Pro fabric goes through much more rigorous abrasion tests to stand up to the demands of mountain professionals—including athletes, guides and avalanche forecasters.Â
While the kit is designed for big-mountain adventures, the bib has a somewhat looser, freeride fit around the knees and thighs, for a touch of style and better mobility. The jacket has four external zippered pockets and two internal mesh pockets, while the bib features six more pockets on the chest and thighs, each with a beacon attachment for personalization and compatibility with Mountain Hardwear packs. Large underarm and external leg vents (plus a dual-sided drop seat) open up for reprieve, and a helmet-compatible hood cinches down for stormy exploring. If you’re looking for a backcountry kit that’s focused purely on performance, the Mythogen kit won’t come up short.
