The latest Shift binding is built for advanced skiers hunting steep chutes and powdery landings. Atomic developed the binding in close collaboration with athletes like Daron Rahlves, Tonje Kvivik and Craig Murray, with this particular model donning the artwork of Mr. Chris Benchetler.
A DIN range of 8-16 handles aggressive freeride skiing but the biggest improvements are the updated toe and heel pieces. The new anti-friction device (AFD) on the toe improves lateral stiffness, giving skiers better power transfer for more precise edge-to-edge control. The three-part power heel maximizes shock absorption and improves retention when you're sending it off gnarly cliffs or charging down steep faces. Coming in at 1210 g, this beefier, 16 DIN model is a bit heavier than the existing 10-13 DIN models, but the weight is worth it for increased dependability and durability.
