The biggest story on the S/Pro Alpha C BOA is shell construction. Salomon reworked the relationship between the lower shell and the upper cuff with a fixed-attachment system. Inside the lower shell, the cuff extends farther down than a normal overlap design and bolts to the arch rather than the ankle, creating a noticeably different feel when you flex. The result is strong leverage and energy transfer with a cohesive flex pattern.

The cuff-mounted upper BOA is another strategic move. Replacing the upper buckles creates a more even wrap around the shin, without cutting off circulation to your lower leg and foot. The 98-mm last lands in the low-volume performance category, but the shape feels more accommodating than many similarly narrow boots. The redesigned liner and tongue eliminate pressure points and leave a bootfitter room to work, and the 130 flex feels stout without being overbearing.
