As skiers, we sometimes see certain brands, topsheets or specs and decide on a ski before even trying it. Fischer is taking away all of that with its new approach to ski design and marketing for the Nothing ski. With no topsheet design and no specs to go off of, the Nothing is a social experiment for skiers to get out on the snow and try a ski basically blindfolded, relying on feel rather than specs.

After multiple days of testing, the FREESKIER team decided the Nothing is a powder ski with a mid-soft flex and a playful but directional shape. No skier is created equal though, and only you can decide how this ski skis for you.

This week, we’re teaming up with Fischer so you can try these “mystery” skis for yourself. The prize package also comes with Fischer's RC4 Free Pro MV ZF BOA boots and the Attack 14 binding with a 110 mm brakes to put your season in turnkey position. The RC4 gives its users uphill freedom with the strength of a hard-charging alpine boot on the descent, and the all-mountain alpine bindings are also compatible with touring boots.

Nothing

Fischer

The Nothing shares many of the attributes that made the Fischer Ranger 102 so popular, but pushes that platform into a more powder-focused shape. The ski has a wood core with metal and camber underfoot, combined with rocker in the tip and tail. While the center of the ski feels stout and supportive, the much softer tips and tails release easily, giving the Nothing a looser and more playful personality than its directional shape suggests.

Fischer

Fischer makes its priorities clear with the RC4 Free Pro. This is not a lightweight touring boot pretending to be an alpine boot, it's an alpine charger that can go uphill. Unlike most freeride-oriented boots, the RC4 Free Pro intentionally omits a walk mode. Fischer wanted downhill strength above all, and a walk mode detracts from that. The boot does include tech toe inserts compatible with select hybrid bindings like the CAST system and the Fischer Attack Hybrid.

Fischer Attack 14

You won't need to buy a pair of alpine boots on top of your touring boots with Fischer’s Attack 14, as the binding is compatible with alpine, grip walk and touring boots. This new feature builds on Fischer's Attack line, which has a high-performing FR Pro 3 toe to help maintain consistent release values for ripping freeride powder or throwing corks in the park. A newly revised AFD can be easily adjusted for different boot sole heights at your local ski shop with a certified ski technician.
