The Duke PT 13 is the transformer of the hybrid binding world. Flip the lever on the toe and the upper jaw tilts forward to uncover a set of tech pins underneath. Leave it hanging there and tour, or pull the jaw off entirely and stash it in your pack, dropping 300 g per foot on the way up. Either way, the pins do the climbing while the alpine hardware sits out on the ascent.
The Lock and Walk unit on the heel automatically locks the brakes and gives you a 10-degree climbing aid as you stack vert. At the top, the front jaw clicks back onto the base plate and locks itself at four points as you step in, at which point you're skiing a binding that behaves like a full alpine unit. A 24-millimeter stand height keeps you close to the ski for direct power transfer and quick edge changes, and the DIN range runs from 4 to 13.
