Designed to fit into the ever-popular hybrid-touring quiver, this ski boot has a walk mode and tech inserts while still possessing a burly 130 flex. This caters to a skier who craves inbound performance and a stiff flex while still wanting the freedom to explore technical lines in the backcountry. Lange achieves this through a specific design philosophy that favors thicker plastics, and a rock-solid walk mode lever was chosen over light plastics and large ankle motion. At 1790g, this boot is lighter than the traditional alpine boots, which typically weigh around 2000 grams on average, yet slightly heavier than lightweight touring boots, which are closer to 1500 grams on average. On the spine sits Lange’s walk mode, dubbed V-lock. Compared to other boots on the market, this lever is quick and simple, which keeps the switch from alpine to walk mode reliable, and it’s extremely easy to use even with gloves on. The shell of this boot is constructed from two different stiffnesses of plastics: the stiffer material is placed in areas of the boot that receive a lot of force and energy, while the softer plastic is placed strategically for easier entry and exit from the boot. Rounding out the design, Lange implements tech inserts at the heel and toe, GripWalk soles and four lightweight aluminum buckles.
