When Mt Hood is brought up in the wide world of skiing, its glowing reputation precedes it. But on this well-known Oregon peak, visions of rare ascents and hidden zones might not be the first things that come to mind. Leave it to Hank Stowers and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa to show us some turns in a zone we'd never heard of.
Both Stowers and Cattabriga-Alosa are well-versed in the best skiing the PNW has to offer. Stowers has grown quite the audience over the last few seasons thanks to a combination of informative videos and downright gangster freeride clips. Cattabriga-Alosa, who's traveled the world with TGR and pioneered big mountain riding as we know it, needs little introduction.
Together, the pair catch a few smooth turns in Super Bowl at Mt Hood Meadows. Judging by the fact that neither of these two has ever skied this zone before, it's safe to say it doesn't open often. If you're an Oregon skier, congratulations, a new bucket-list area has just been put on your plate.
From YouTube:
Come with me as I explore new freeride terrain at Mt. Hood! It was such an honor to ski this with my childhood hero and freeride legend Sage Cattabriga! I can't wait for another crack at this, I really want to hit that big shelf of cliffs on the right. I'm about to head to Argentina for a big ski trip, let me know where you want me to go explore!
