While all our attention has been fixated on South America (and for good reason), the ski season has been teeing off Down Under. Our friends in Australia have been enjoying fresh snow as of late, and even though the winter was slow to start, lifts and now spinning and terrain is opening.
Mt. Baw Baw, Mt. Buller and Hotham Alpine Resort have seen the most snow in the last few days, recording 13", 5" and 6" in the last five days, respectively. Each of these resorts can be found in Australia's Victoria state, which is no surprise, as that's where the majority of the country's skiing is located.
There's been no shortage of stellar sunsets and clean groomer laps for skiers in Australia thus far, but a few fresh turns have been welcomed with opened arms. "Magical day at Hotham," the resort cheered on Instagram on July 29. "15cm+ fresh, loaded up in the trees. Good times for all!"
While most of Australia's resorts are independent, the Epic Pass is your best value for snagging turns at multiple mountains this season. You'll get access to Falls Creek, Hotham and Perisher, letting you tap into a wide variety of terrain, and explore Perisher's legendary park.
