The race to drop the first ski movie trailer of 2026 is over, and Teton Gravity Research is officially the winner. TGR's 2026 film, "Actually, It Is Rocket Science," looks to be a shakeup from the industry veterans, but perhaps that's just what they were looking for.
The project marks their 31st film, and after three decades of making movies, it can be hard to craft new, original ideas year after year. Judging by the title alone, this one feels different from recent releases we've seen from TGR. The usual big lines and deep pow seem to be at play, but with a unique twist.
As the trailer drop explained, the new movie will explore "the physics behind pushing what is possible—from dissecting a big mountain line and calculating transition to understanding the force and amplitude of a massive gap." What that means remains to be seen, but we're excited for a new approach. Especially considering the range of riding promised, from street segments to AK spines.

The study spans Bute Inlet, British Columbia; Haines, Alaska; Japan; Finland; Andorra; Montana; Jay Peak, Vermont; and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Different mountains, snowpacks, conditions, and approaches—but the same forces are always at work: speed, gravity, instinct, and consequence.

The film hits the road with a 200+ stop global film tour, beginning with the world premiere in Jackson Hole on September 19.
