What Exactly is the New 2027 LINE Poisson Ski

The 2027 LINE Poisson is one of the most anticipated skis of the winter. And with its curious design and LINE's reputation for bringing unorthodox shapes to life, who could blame us for wanting to take a deeper look? With LINE athletes like Dylan Siggers, Liam Morgan, Ana Eyssimont, Lalo Rambaud and more singing its praises, the new Poisson is already positioned to be a crowd pleaser.

Taking influence from both the Sakana and Optic line-ups, this ski lands between powder plank and freeride driver. Compared to most LINE skis, it's slightly on the stiffer end. That said, it's more forgiving than the Optics and boasts a very different shape. All this amounts to a ski that, in the words of Morgz , is "f*ckin lit." We'd have to agree. It carves surprisingly well for its size, and is a dream in the deep end.

Starting from the inside, the Poisson, which is French for fish, features an Aspen Veneer core. Stringers of Aspen are glued together, which creating a medium flex. To add damping, the crew incorporates LINE's proprietary Gas Pedal Metal. It looks like the skeleton of a fish, and while that's an added visual bonus, the benefit of this is that the titanal is strategically carved out to eliminate unwanted weight while still adding stability. It doesn't deliver the same feeling as a full sheet of titanal, but that's the point.

Adding to this versatility, LINE crafted a shape that lets you smoothly initiate and hold a turn while being able to slash when needed, thanks to a tail that pivots far more easily than the Blade model, for example. This new tail shape, dubbed Step-Tail, is a hybrid fish-tail design that narrows as it reaches the end of the ski.

As seen in the video above, the Poisson caters to someone who prioritizes jibbing over pure speed but still yearns for a good carve. Fast, powerful turns meet slashing and tricks. It's perhaps the most versatile offering in LINE's Concept Collection . Spring days and pow are where this one shines.

With that in mind, it woulnd't be a terrible pick for a touring ski when paired with a light hybrid or pin binding setup. At 2150g at 186cm, it's not here for mile-instensive days, though sidecountry pow missions would be perfect. It wouldn't be our first choice for a one-ski quiver, but as an addition to the passionate rider's arsenal, there are few finer options this winter.
