The best ski films give us a reason to see the mountains differently. Sometimes that means chasing big lines in deep snow, but it can also mean discovering a local scene and getting to know the people who make it special. With Season 5 of TREW To You, the grassroots film project is looking for new crews that are ready to bring their own stories to life on the big screen.

The program will give selected teams the resources and support to turn an original idea into a finished film. Three crews will be chosen from applicants across North America. TREW values creativity, individuality and an artful approach to filmmaking, giving applicants room to explore what skiing means to them.

That could mean documenting a road trip, riding hand built backyard features or exploring an overlooked corner of the ski world. The emphasis is on the story rather than the snow conditions, so applicants don’t need a season of perfect powder or a roster of professional athletes to make a compelling case for their project.

What Teams Receive

Each selected crew will receive $1,000 in startup funding, a TREW jacket and bibs for every team member, plus additional gear and support from the program's partner brands. Team size can vary from two to five members, depending on the needs of the project and the skills each person brings to the table.

Startup funding is designed to help cover production expenses, including camera equipment, lift tickets or even gas tank topoffs. Selected crews will then have eight weeks to film and four weeks to edit their projects, making planning and collaboration essential as ideas are developed into finished films. All footage should come from the designated filming window (occasional exceptions may be granted) and music used in the final edit must be commercially licensed.

Make Your Idea Stand Out

How will you turn an idea into a film people want to watch? A strong proposal starts with a clear concept and a convincing reason for telling it. So think about what makes your story distinctive and why your crew is the right one to present it. Applicants can submit more than one idea, but TREW prefers thoughtful, well-developed pitches over quantity.

Teams are asked to pitch their idea, identify the people involved and describe their experience with riding, filming and editing. TREW evaluates submissions based on creativity, individuality, artistic approach and the quality of previous projects.

Throughout the process, TREW To You gives emerging filmmakers and riders the opportunity to develop their ideas, learn through production and share their work with a wider audience. The finished films will be evaluated by a panel of snow-industry and filmmaking professionals, who will consider storytelling, creativity and overall execution. Community voting also plays a role in determining the winner.

The grand prize is $15,000, which the winning team will use to create a feature-length film with TREW during the 2027/28 season.

Applications Close December 4th

A film worth making can start with a familiar mountain, an unconventional idea or a group of friends who see their corner of the ski world a little differently. TREW To You gives three crews the chance to develop those ideas with the support to take a project from its initial pitch to a finished film.

Applications are being accepted through December 4, 2026. Rally your crew, sharpen your ideas and make the case for the story only you can tell.
