WINTER PARK, COLO. (November 15, 2010) – For the 71st season, lifts will begin turning at Winter Park Resort at 9:00am on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Due to significant early season snowfall and cold temperates resulting in high production of manmade snow, an increased amount of early season terrain is expected to open. Though terrain will be limited to select runs on Winter Park Mountain, top-to-bottom skiing and riding is anticipated by mid-day on opening day. Mary Jane will open on Saturday, November 20, with limited terrain. Opening Day
At 9:00am on Wednesday, November 17 the first guests in line at the Arrow Chairlift will bust the banner on the 71st season at Winter Park Resort. From 9:00am to 12:00pm a live radio broadcast with 106.3FM KCMV will take place in front of the new Private Lesson Center where listeners will be eligible for lift ticket giveaways. Terrain scheduled to open the morning of November 17th include: Village Way, Parkway, Discovery Park and Sorensen Park. Lifts scheduled to run include: Arrow, Gemini, Spirit, Meteor and/or Comet, Endeavor and Discovery. By mid-day on Wednesday more terrain is scheduled to open including Cranmer, March Hare and White Rabbit, making runs available top-to-bottom by mid-day on Winter Park Mountain. These runs will be accessible via the Zephyr Express chairlift and Eskimo chairlift.
71% Off Lodging Sale
Beginning with the first chairlift ride, Winter Park Resort will offer a 71 hour lodging sale to celebrate the 71st season. Guests can buy one night’s lodging and receive the second night at 71% off! The sale will end at 5pm on Saturday. Guests must book-by November 20, however, the visit can be any time of season (including Christmas!). Saturday Terrain and Events
On Saturday, November 20, limited terrain is expected to open on Mary Jane! Lifts scheduled to run on both Winter Park Mountain and Mary Jane will be the Super Gauge, Pony Express, Galloping Goose, High Lonesome, and the Lariat, all on top of the already opened Gemini, Spirit, Meteor, Endeavor and Discovery. The celebrations continue with another live broadcast with 106.3FM KCMV for another round of lift ticket giveaways from 2:00pm-5:00pm. From 4:00pm to 6:00pm there is a free, for all ages, showing of the Level 1 Productions “Eye Trip” Ski Movie at the Derailer Bar. Apres specials will be offered at Doc’s Roadhouse and Derailer Bar. Plus, Winter Park Resort Rentals will offer 2-for-1 tuning passes.
