If you’re looking for a powerful all-mountain ski with just enough waist width to comfortably handle most conditions around the resort, you’re in the right place. The Anomaly 102 was introduced last year by Blizzard, replacing the brand’s beloved Cochise and Bonafide.
The storied Austrian brand utilizes three different types of wood in the core, along with carbon and metal, to make the Anomaly 102 ultra-damp and stable in the best way. This ski is narrow enough to feel quick and engaging on groomed runs while still having enough surface area to attack ungroomed terrain.
Off piste is where this ski really shines, as it is able to blast through crud and chopped-up snow with unwavering confidence. This stability is complemented by a wide turn radius, enabling long, sweeping and consistent turns in places where the instability of other skis would bring you to a halt.
A ski with this much material and such a directional shape can be hard for inexperienced skiers to pilot at slower speeds. It demands effort and focus, but can still feel quick edge to edge with precise technique by an experienced skier, even in tighter trees.
That said, if you’re someone who puts the pedal to the metal all the time, this ski is an absolute tank. There’s something so fun about hauling through a wide-open, chundery bowl with complete confidence that your skis have your back.
