The Armada ARV 106 Ti is self-explanatory in its name. Armada took its beloved ARV 106 chassis and added Titanal to it. The result is a fun, damp and energy-filled, big-mountain ski. They first debuted this idea back in 2019 by releasing a limited run and the feedback was promising.
Last year, Armada completely redesigned the ARV 106, which made the ski softer and aligned more with the brand’s freestyle-forward ARV line. This was a welcomed change as the previous generation’s ARV 106 was quite stiff, but at high speeds had excessive vibrations and was not as playful as one might expect from an ARV ski. However, the stiffer ARV 106 was beloved by many, as freeride skiers crave a twin-shaped ski with ample energy to charge in variable conditions. This is where the ARV 106 Ti comes in. It is able to keep the 106 chassis feeling relatively playful and fun while the added metal really opens it up to the top end of the speedometer and is incredible at dampening vibrations. That said, this ski requires more strategy and power to initiate in a turn.
Surrounding the Ti’s stout metal core is the ski’s twin shape, ample tip and tail rocker and camber underfoot. This shape and profile really complement the ski’s metal and wood core nicely with a cool yin-yang effect and lend perfectly to the powerful freeride skier. This ski is neither too stiff nor too soft and enables the user to ski at fast speeds while still being able to attack the mountain with a surfy style by quickly changing directions and hunting natural features.
The ARV 106 Ti is for the aggressive skier who likes to charge and wants a ski that doesn’t feel overly chattery and loose. On the other side of the spectrum, this skier doesn’t want to make perfectly placed turns off-piste. They want to be able to pivot and slash their way down the mountain without feeling locked into a turn all while skiing circles around the resort.
