Blackcrows redesigned its beloved 97-mm ski for 2026, delivering a Camox with a refined construction, shape and profile. With a semi-directional shape and tip and tail rocker this ski is extremely versatile to rip all over the resort, except on the deepest powder days.
Despite its nearly twin-tip design, the Camox behaves more like a directional charger than a freestyle tool. The long effective edge from its large camber section delivers exceptional grip and stability, making it perfect for carrying speed on and off piste.Â
The Camox incorporates dense ash wood underfoot to complement the mostly poplar core construction. This ash section provides a stable platform between the bindings while the poplar in the tips and tails maintains a playful attitude. The flex profile enhances both groomer performance and composure through firm, off-piste conditions while retaining a quick turn release. Overall, this ski maintains a more playful vibe than its metal-dominant counterparts. However, it does sacrifice some authority when plowing through heavy chop or chunky snow compared to wider options. The Camox doesn’t love high-speed skiing and can suffer from tip chatter as you approach its limits.
For skiers seeking a versatile ski that caters to selective turns over raw speed, the redesigned Camox delivers an appealing balance. Its ability to transition seamlessly from carving to creative line choices makes it ideal for intermediate to advanced skiers who prioritize creativity over speed.
