The Nomad 100 was all new last year—marking the first major update to the Nomad line in eight years. It’s a soft ski with nice snap and low swing weight thanks to its wood and carbon core. The softer flex pattern creates a distinctly playful feel that sets it firmly in the all-mountain category as a jib-oriented ski. However, the ski’s soft and playful nature can prove problematic when laid on edge because of the lack of torsional rigidity.
This ski features a near-twin profile, with camber underfoot and a touch more rocker in the tip than the tail. This hybrid design complements the soft wood and carbon core nicely, with super easy butter initiation in the tips and tails, some serious pop and just enough edge hold for a good time. The relatively minimal taper and wide tip and tail create a long effective edge to help counter the skis’ soft nature. Finally, using less tip filler than industry standard, Icelantic keeps the swing weight low to further enhance the playful platform.
The Nomad 100 truly excels in bumps and jumps, where it proves easy to maneuver and downright fun to drive. This combination of width and softness creates a forgiving platform that helps intermediate skiers build confidence when dialing in their technique. With the Nomad 100, you get what you put into it with a sense of predictability, enabling confidence when jibbing around the resort.
