For the ladies who have a propensity to hit terminal velocity, Dynastar’s M-Pro 98 W offers a steady ride, especially at speed. While the M-Free series caters more to the playful side of freeriding with a twin-tip rocker profile, the M-Pro 98 W delivers a different precise and fast attitude.
At 98 mm underfoot, this all-mountain ski is a great width for everyday use and the large rockered tip enables better float than you’d expect for a sub-100 plank. The shovel cuts through choppy snow with little chatter as you approach your speed limit, inspiring confidence in conditions that generally make skiers reconsider their line choice. The ski’s 16-meter turn radius seems short on paper, but on snow, this ski holds long, drawn-out turns beautifully with the ability to change course when needed.
We were impressed with how stiff and stable the ski feels for its modest weight of 1,700 grams in a 162 cm length. Wood and polyurethane make up the core, which requires less energy to drive than a metal-dominant ski while still providing a damp feel.
Overall, the word that comes to mind time after time when getting on the M-Pro 98 W is control. This ski offers a robust backbone without being excessively heavy, which makes it easy to maneuver for less advanced skiers.
