The Best Ski Boots of 2026
Oct 1, 2025
The RC4 Free 120 LV is an aggressive, low-volume boot for skiers who spend the majority of their time in the resort but still want the ability to dip into the backcountry with a hybrid binding.
The increasingly popular BOA system on the lower shell employs a ratcheting dial and thick metal cable to replace traditional buckles. In practice, this enables a more precise adjustment of the boot’s lower half while reducing pressure points caused by conventional buckle systems. Fischer combines the closure system with a 100-percent, heat-moldable plastic shell, which improves comfort and significantly reduces the time needed to achieve a precise fit.Â
With the intentional omission of a walk mode, the RC4 Free incorporates tech inserts in the toe piece for light backcountry touring capabilities. This configuration isn’t compatible with traditional backcountry bindings and only functions with hybrid designs like the new Tyrolia Hybrid Attack 14. While some hybrid touring boots with walk modes sacrifice downhill performance for uphill efficiency, the RC4 is purely designed for the downhill experience.
Note: This is last year's model and may have limited availability.
