The 2026 K2 Reckoner 102 returns with proven construction that continues to set it apart from more traditional all-mountain skis in its category. Rather than chasing pure directional performance, K2 has created a playful aura that makes this ski a favorite among freestyle riders who want to leave the park.
The Reckoner 102’s construction prioritizes soft flex and pop. K2 builds the ski around a midweight aspen wood core that provides a great platform for the brand’s use of carbon and fiberglass. Across the whole ski, K2 uses a fishnet-pattern carbon fiber layup that weaves tightly underfoot and expands in the tip and tail. This creates a really soft flex in the extremities for easier buttering and pressing while keeping the ski relatively stiff underfoot when on edge. This combination delivers a unique balance of butterability and edge performance for a ski that is this soft. We aren’t saying this ski carves like a Mindbender, but when compared to other skis in this class, it holds its own on a groomer and in deep landings.
In tighter terrain like moguls and trees, the 102 has excellent maneuverability because of the vertical flex—you can make this ski do whatever you want. This is also what makes the ski so agile when riding switch and popping off natural hits.
The Reckoner 102 succeeds as a specialized tool for intermediate and advanced skiers who prioritize creativity and fun, delivering the playful energy that has defined K2’s freestyle heritage.
