For big-mountain maestro Elyse Saugstad, the Sheeva series proves tried and true for the ex-racer’s fast and aggressive style of skiing on steep and technical faces. The Sheeva 10 in particular is Saugstad’s Jill of all trades for resort skiing with a great balance between power and maneuverability. At 102 mm underfoot, this ski lands right in the middle of the Sheeva series and is happy on both groomers and off piste.
Two years ago, Blizzard repositioned the metal from the middle third of the ski to directly underfoot and along the edges. This gives the ski a bigger sweet spot than the previous generation and adds more on-edge stability, which is particularly handy off piste. Underneath the metal, Blizzard utilizes three densities of wood that create stiffness underfoot while allowing more flex in the tip and tail. This construction provides stability when you need it most while maintaining maneuverability in variable terrain.
The Sheeva 10 features a directional shape and rocker-camber-rocker profile that places it between a pure directional ski and something more freestyle-oriented. This design enables consistent turns while still allowing quick release when skiing unpredictable terrain. You get the best of both worlds—carving performance on groomers and adaptability in challenging conditions.
Compared to Blizzard’s more directional skis like the Anomaly and Black Pearl series, the Sheeva 10 is designed to be taken all over the resort. It provides a solid platform to explore cliff zones and tree runs while still delivering crisp carves on the groomers. This versatility does come at a cost—those used to stiffer directional skis might find it lacks energy retention when really pushing hard. On the flip side, novice skiers might find this ski demanding as it definitely loosens up at higher speeds or when driven with more power.
Based on our experience, the Sheeva 10 is a crowd pleaser. It’s stiff and stout enough to drive on groomers, hardpack and off-piste chunder with just enough playfulness for creative lines and a waist width that provides decent float in softer snow.
