As summer heat cascades across North America, a glimmer of hope rises from the depths of the internet. Mastchstick Productions just dropped the trailer for their 2025 film, "After the Snowfall," and we've got a few reasons to be fired up for MSP's new offering.

Looking at the athlete list, there are several new names on the roster. Parker White, Nikolai Schirmer and Jacob Wester are making their MSP debut, with these heavy hitters having each attained global freeski recognition through very different paths. Schirmer is notably a talented filmmaker in his own right, and it will be interesting to see what he brings to the crew from both a skiing and (possibly) production perspective.

The film focuses on why we ski in the first place, promising to deliver "honest and irreverent reflections from both athletes and everyday skiers on what skiing means to them; why they risk injury, chase fleeting storms, and build their lives around snow." Judging by the trailer, that doesn't mean there will be any less emphasis on full-throttle skiing.

While the filming style airs on the more traditional side of the spectrum, the locations and caliber of riding remain world-class. Who could complain when the riders include Sam Smoothy, Crazy Karl, Michelle Parker, Finn Bilous and heaps more. We're fired up to see what MSP is bringing to the table this fall.

From YouTube:

After the Snowfall is a high-octane and heartfelt journey through the culture and chaos of modern skiing. Filmed in stunning locations from the Lyngen Alps of Norway to the heli-accessed steeps of British Columbia, the film showcases an elite crew of skiers, including Michelle Parker, Nikolai Schirmer, Nico Porteous, Caite Zeliff, and more, pushing boundaries with jaw-dropping style and skill.

But this is not just a story about pros. It is about the everyday ski bum, the weekend warrior, and the mountain town lifer whose passion burns just as bright. Interwoven throughout the action are honest and irreverent reflections from both athletes and everyday skiers on what skiing means to them; why they risk injury, chase fleeting storms, and build their lives around snow. The film explores both the literal mountains they climb and the internal terrain they navigate: personal growth, camaraderie, obsession, and joy.

With Matchstick Productions' signature blend of cinematic artistry and raw stoke, After The Snowfall is a reminder that skiing is more than a sport, it is a way of life. Presented by Toyota and supported by The North Face, Ikon Pass, and Stanley, this film is a tribute to the people, places, and powder turns that make it all worth it.
