The women's slopestyle qualifications went down this morning, kicking off the freeski events for the entirety of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The stacked field of 26 women in qualifications had to be narrowed down to the top 12 for finals, which is scheduled for Monday, February 9 at 4:30 A.M. MST. Despite banger bluebird weather, the girls struggled to get enough speed throughout. The rails section was especially tight, causing a lot of the ladies to come off early or make uncharacteristic mistakes, which made it hard to make up for the three jumps at the end of the course.

"We have three normal jumps, which isn't what we were expecting after the last Olympics, so it should be interesting to see everyone throwing their biggest tricks," says Grace Henderson before dropping into qualifications. "It's a really fun course to cruise through!"

Four American women qualified for slopestyle but only one has made it through to finals—Avery Krumme with a fourth place score of 64.93. Rell Harwood did not start, due to a knee injury, while Grace Henderson and Marin Hamill failed to land a run with a score high enough to place them in the top 12.

Mathilde Gremaud leads the field going into finals with a qualification score of 79.15, followed closely by Eileen Gu (75.30) and Kirsty Muir (64.98). Gu had a very atypical first run, coming off the first rail short and taking it to the hip. With the pressure on, Gu laced her second run, albeit nothing about it was nearly as technical as we're used to seeing from the phenom—just 7s and 9s off the jumps and 2s off the rails—but we're excited to see what she's saving for finals on Monday. It's a bummer to see Sarah Hoefflin (SUI) and Elena Gaskell (CAN) miss finals but we are stoked to see Guilia Tanno (SUI) move on after battling with multiple injuries that have left her out of the last two Olympics.
