•December 17, 2016

Following a burly storm that brought a whopping 16 inches of snow and single-digit temperatures, the first Toyota U.S. Grand Prix of the season went down at Copper Mountain today. Athletes from all over showed up ready to charge—it’s the first Grand Prix qualifier for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea—and the competition was understandably fierce.

Two events went down at the Colorado resort’s 22-foot pipe: men’s halfpipe and women’s halfpipe. On the men’s side, Frenchman Kevin Rolland took the win with an impressive 94.20 on his third and final run. In second was Benoit Valentin, another Frenchman, who was close behind Rolland with a 92.40. Rounding out the podium was American and Crested Butte, Colorado local Aaron Blunck, who scored an 87.00.
