While the East Coast and Midwest have been idling in fall, much of the West got its first dose of winter this week. Over the last three days, many notable resorts in Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado have collected some serious snow totals as temperatures dropped and the winds brought in the blower.
Montana was the epicenter of this October storm , with a couple of mom-and-pop operations boasting over 18 inches of snow. Despite an abundance of rocks and grass, a few skiers braved the coreshots and got out for their first turns of the season.
Most places won't see this inconsistent snow stick around, but when it comes to creating a stable snowpack, that's probably for the best. Check out which resorts racked it up last weekend.
