The North Face Frontier 2026 Qualifier Four-Star Results at The Remarkables

The 2026 North Face Frontier (TNF Frontier) at The Remarkables wrapped up on Tuesday with its four-star competition after getting a late-August storm brought about 20 inches of fresh snow. Despite low visibility and windy conditions, the athletes still delivered, with India Cairns taking gold in the women’s division and Mika Rolshoven in the men’s.

The four-star comp was held in the Alta Chutes at the famous freeride home of The Remarkables, which historically held pipeline competitions for some of the top freeride champions. Those include New Zealand natives Ben Richards, the 2026 Freeride World Tour (FWT) champ, and Jess Hotter, the 2022 FWT champ.

The competition took a hiatus after Winter Games NZ was discontinued due to a lack of government funding. Still, it came back this year with abundant powder and emerging talent to keep on your radar throughout the FWT Qualifier and Challenger series.

While India Cairns isn’t new to the freeride scene and has consistently been ranked highly in the FWT Qualifier Region 1, her performance at this year's TNF Frontier has helped her move to the forefront of the global freeride conversation. On her Instagram bio, she jokes that she is a “freeride wannabe,” but this recent competition may make her change that, as she is now ranking as a strong contender for the FWT Pro circuit.

Even with low visibility and pockets of deep powder, Cairns gained some impressive speed and committed to some gnarly cliffs in the Alta Chutes. Cairns is currently ranked second in the women’s Region 1 FWT Qualifiers.

Mika Rolshoven has a different story, as he is still new to the FWT Qualifiers. He secured third at the 2025 Junior FWT championship, marking his transition away from the junior circuit. It is safe to say that Rolshoven isn’t playing around, though, securing himself gold at TNF Frontier this year and ranking first in the men's FWT Qualifier Region 1 circuit at 18 years old.

In his run down the Alta Chutes, he gained insane speed over three cliffs and got control back impressively quick to finish his last cliff with a clean shifty. It must run in the family, considering Mika has spent years chasing his brother, FWT rider Tiemo Rolshoven.
