Although we’re in the thick of winter, and Whistler has seen a better early season than most places in the mountain west, now is the best time to start thinking about—and planning—your spring ski vacation. There are plenty of places that claim to offer the best vibes for your slushy corn harvest, but few measure up to Whistler’s world-class offerings—from the extended seasons to the best après parties west of the Rockies and everything in between. As spring rolls around this coastal BC ski town, the days get longer and the late-season storms continue to deliver fresh snow well into April. With a favorable exchange rate from the United States ($1 USD = $1.40 CAD), and easy access from Vancouver International Airport, there’s almost no good reason not to visit Whistler this spring. But if you still need a few, we’ve broken down the top five reasons why Whistler is absolutely on our list for March and April, 2026.Â

As the largest ski area in North America, Whistler’s 8,171 acres of skiable terrain has made the place famous for both its in-bounds and out-of-bounds skiing but what really sets Whistler Blackcomb apart is its epic spring offerings. Historically speaking, March is one of the snowiest months in coastal British Columbia, which sets the mountain up for a season that often rolls all the way into May. April invites slower mornings to enjoy a couple extra hours of sleep, or a brunch spread worthy of royalty in the Village, before heading out for some slushy afternoon laps on Harmony Ridge or in Glacier Bowl. With the spring months comes warmer weather and longer days of bluebird sunshine, which makes skiing in your favorite party shirt-of-choice that much more enticing and catching a goggle tan on a mountain patio a no-brainer.
Do It All With Longer Days
Winter can often feel like a never-ending race to the next best powder stash but spring ushers in a more comfortable pace. One where you can sleep in until the sun softens the snowpack, or wake up to get another activity, like climbing or biking, in before you head up the mountain for afternoon slush. Spring in Whistler can often feel like the party that never stops, with events like the Whistler World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF) scheduled April 6-12, 2026, hosting events from morning to midnight. Where winter can feel like a short daily window to fit everything in, spring's extended daylight hours offer plenty of time to sleep, eat, ski, party, recover and repeat until the snow starts to melt in May. One of our favorite ways to cap off a long spring day? A stop at the Scandiave Spa for a massage and hot soak before refueling at Sushi Village with sake and fresh, coastal fish.
The Good Skiing Just Gets Better Â
Whistler's 8,171 acres of skiable terrain is the largest offering in North America, and as spring warms up the historically deep snowpack, the skiing just gets better and better. Within the resort’s boundaries, Spanky’s Ladder and Surf’s Up will get the adrenaline flowing but if you’re looking to earn your spiciest turns, Down, Over, Around (commonly referred to as D.O.A.) is the area’s most iconic backcountry zone—accessed by skinning up the Blackcomb Glacier and wrapping around the backside to enter the couloir. The D.O.A. is south-facing, which can make it difficult to catch it in the right conditions mid-winter but come spring, it’s positioned to soften into perfect corn for a mid-day mission. Always ensure you’re carrying avalanche safety gear and have the necessary route-finding, snowpack assessment and self-rescue skills before heading out of bounds.Â
Once you’ve scoured Whistler's expansive terrain, and you’ve exhausted your hiking legs on the skintrack, the next best move is to hop in the heli with Whistler Heli Skiing. The largest heli-ski tenure in Whistler—432,000 acres, to be exact—the big-mountain options are virtually endless with 475 named runs and 173 glaciers spread across 11 distinct zones to explore. Based in the heart of Whistler Village, it’s nearly impossible to overlook the operation and with a variety of packages available for all abilities, there’s a heli-ski experience for every rider in Whistler.Â

Touted as one of the best resorts in North America for aprĂ©s and nightlife, the list for libations are virtually endless at Whistler Blackcomb. Umbrella Bar and Chickpea Hut on Whistler, and Glacier Creek Lodge on Blackcomb offer some of the best aprĂ©s bites and bevies while you're still out skiing. Once you're ski legs are done for the day, hop on one of the tables at the Longhorn Saloon—ski boots double as dancing shoes in this establishment—or cozy up on Garibaldi Lift Company’s mountain-facing patio for the best view. For a more upscale experience, the Mallard Lounge at Fairmont Chateau Whistler serves elegance and comfort in the form of cocktails and small bites but if you're not sure what you're in the mood for, the energy in Whistler's Village will lure you into exactly what your heart desires. Â
Bigger Canadian Bang for Your U.S. BuckÂ
All in all, Whistler offers one of the best values for a spring ski vacation—and we're not just talking about the favorable exchange rate from the U.S. dollar. Just a two-hour drive from Vancouver's International Airport, there are a few different ways to get around the Sea-to-Sky corridor but hopping on one of the many airport shuttles directly to Whistler Village is the easiest. Once you're here, everything is walkable. Come spring, the ski traffic tends to settle down after peak winter travel, and because of that, there are few crowds to contend with while on the mountain, in the lift line or securing a dinner reservation in the Village. Whistler's cherry on top of its spring ski sundae is 25% savings on lodging in March and April, and a free $75 aprés voucher with every third night booked.
