Siver Voll got his flowers, as they say. The Norwegian rail god has been putting it down for years, and after he signed with 4FRNT one year ago, it was only a matter of time before he got to work on his own ski. Now, the new Siver Pro Devastator is here.
"When we signed Siver, he expressed a lot of interest and excitement about ski design given 4FRNT’s history with rider development," said 4FRNT's Jake Doan. Indeed, the brand isn't just blowing smoke when they talk about athlete-driven design. From Hoji's long-standing influence to Thayne Rich to the recent Sinister from Stinius Skjøtskift, pro models are a part of the 4FRNT heritage.
The Siver Pro Devastator is reminiscent of the classic Devastator with a few alterations. While the traditional Dev is known as a solid resort charger, the Siver Pro is around 10% softer thanks to a custom Aspen Maple profile. This amounts to a relatively wide park ski that balances stability with enough flex to easily pop and butter. You'd also be hard-pressed not to notice the top sheet, designed by artist Harrison Johnson. It features Siver's staple paisley print, along with his signature yeti.
"What I appreciate most about these skis is their combination of width and softness," Voll told FREESKIER. "Paired with the [multiradius] rocker profile, it creates an incredibly playful character that makes you forget just how wide the skis actually are. The result is a ski that is insanely fun in the park, while still being enjoyable across the mountain."
When asked about what skier should keep these on their radar, his answer was simple. "I think anyone who enjoys a wide but playful ski that can handle a lot will really enjoy these," he said. "They perform just as well in the backcountry as they do in the park, or when riding street. It’s a versatile ski that manages to combine stability and float with a playful feel, making it genuinely fun wherever you take it."
