When you hear summer skiing, you likely think of laps at Mount Hood, Woodward Copper, the Beartooth Mountains, the glaciers of Whistler, or the high peaks of Colorado. Vermont is probably not high on that list, but Jay Peak is changing that. The ski resort has saved a small mountain of snow from this winter in preparation for its Summer Solstice Sessions this June.
In an announcement on social media the other day, the resort confirmed that the third annual Solstice Sessions are a go for June 20, 2026, after the operations team tarped and secured a staggering 200,000 cubic feet of snow from a historic winter out East.
Jay Peak's Solstice Sessions has become a local favorite in just three years, with a terrain park, skateboarding, live music, and food all rolled into one incredible day. Seriously, does it get any better?
"All winter long, we set snow aside for one summer day that leans more toward winter. June 20," the post reads. "That pile turns into a summer terrain park at Stateside, serviced by the Magic Carpet and sessioned in three-hour blocks. Off-snow, there’s a skate ramp in the mix and live music just steps away at the Bullwheel Bar from 4–7 p.m."
The snow is stored under a tarp before it's spread out by the Stateside Carpet area adjacent to the amphitheater. It takes a monumental effort to pull something like this off, but the crew at Jay Peak is clearly up for the challenge.
You'll need a ticket to access the event, which starts at $75 and rises to $100 on June 6, assuming there are still tickets left for sale. Unfortunately, there won't be open access for skiing, as Jay Peak has already said, "A very limited number of on-snow tickets will be available in three separate 3-hour blocks."
