K2 has just unveiled a new line of ski boots that that’s scheduled to hit shelves next fall. There are eight models in total that include three men’s and three women’s all-mountain models as well as two freeride models.
The SpYne is the men’s all mountain boot and is offered at three different flex ratings (130, 110 and 90) as well as three different lasts (97mm, 100mm and 102mm). The boot is a traditional 4-buckle overlap shell whose name is derived from a “Y” shaped spine on the back of the boot that is meant to provide more efficient flexing and increased lateral stiffness. The combination of three different lasts with a punched out instep and heat-moldable Intuition liners is being dubbed “K2 Fit Logix.”
On paper, the boots look like they could be serious contenders in the aggressive all-mountain and freeride categories. The images also look good but we look forward to getting them in the field and putting them to the test. Stay tuned.
