The snow pack was thin in the Wasatch Mountains... until it wasn't. The New Year has been kind to Utah so far, and few places were in more dire need of a major refresh than Little Cottonwood Canyon (LCC). According to OpenSnow, Alta has recorded 58 inches of snow in the last 15 days, allowing the fabled resort to open nearly 90% of its terrain.

"We received more than 20 inches of snow over the weekend, which has been doing wonders to solidify our base and create fun, surfy conditions around the whole mountain," Alta Communications Manager Lexi Dowdall excitedly told FREESKIER. "We're looking forward to even more snow on Wednesday evening through Saturday."

Powder fever is only fueling the stoke around Alta's 88th anniversary, which the ski area is celebrating this winter. If you need some motivation to head to LCC, check out the full photo gallery below featuring the fantastic work of Rocko Menzyk and Tyler Struss.
