"CAUTION:TERRAIN" - Big Risk and Bigger Reward in Idaho's Backcountry

To most, Idaho's backcountry is an uncharted enigma in which the best skiing remains unreachable. To the Potato Boys, Idaho's backcountry is all that and then some. The only difference is that this band of explorers is willing to put in the time and effort to seek out the best lines in its vast wilderness. They'll be the first to tell you that skiing in this part of the country is anything but easy... though if it were easy, everyone would do it.

By foot, sled and plane, this Nordica-powered crew got into the deep end last season. The new film, "CAUTION:TERRAIN," is the culmination of that hard work, giving a detailed documentation of what it takes to chase the elusive. Crafted by Cameron Hotchkiss and featuring Essex Prescott, Blake Bowerman, Stephen Matkin and Brooks Curran, the third full-length film from the Potato Boys is as exciting as it is insightful.

Skiing in Idaho can be a true challenge, and it's eye-opening to see how much work goes into making these dream lines a reality. "There's no set way to do it," Prescott explains. "There's no road map of the equipment you're supposed to use or how you're supposed to ski and climb a certain line. It's been interesting to... start realizing what the best way for me and for us to do it."

Indeed, guidebooks and information are scarce when it comes to skiing these bony peaks, and the best lines don't give themselves up easily. Add in changing conditions and goals that sway with the snowpack and you've got a true challenge on your hands. How does the crew make it all work?
