It's not every day you see a press release about a ski area reopening for turns... in June. But Banff Sunshine is out here having us rethink our summer plans and head north. The celebrated resort recently reopened thanks to ample snowfall this winter, and plans to spin lifts through July 5, 2026.
That's 16 total days of summer riding that you can get in on. Opening (or re-opening?) day took place on June 20, with hordes of people pouring in from British Columbia, Alberta and beyond to sample the goods. And this isn't just some marketing operation. The resort has REAL riding available, from quality mogul pitches to groomers to a sweet park build. Banff Sunshine recorded over 400 inches of snow this winter.
The Strawberry Express and Standish Express chairlifts are slated to be open every day of the summer ski season. And the weather looks prime for the coming days. Clouds and thunderstorms will be rolling in and out, but expect sun during the day with intermittent afternoon showers.
And if you're headed to Banff, don't sleep on the Salomon Summer Rail Jam taking place this Saturday, June 27, from 11 am - 2 pm. It's open to all skiers and boarders, with just a $5 entry fee. Helmets are mandatory. Protect that noggin! Throw your hat in the ring and you could win a slew of sweet prizes from Banff Sunshine and Salomon, or just come by for the good vibes.
Summer skiing is FREE for anyone with a  2026/27 Sunshine Season Pass, SkiBig3 Season Pass, Rocky Mountain Passport, or any guests staying at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge. Ikon and Mountain Collective pass holders can get 50% off day tickets, which cost $80 for adults (18+).
