Here's a little bit of stoke to get you through the remaining months of summer's grueling heat. Banff Sunshine Village just got snow... in early August. It's a bit fitting for our Canadian friends to catch a fresh dusting in the middle of summer, as they're coming off a fantastic winter.
Banff Sunshine, which sits on the border of Alberta and British Columbia, extended its ski season this year, closing in May and reopening for over two weeks of summer skiing, spanning from the end of June through early July. The resort was able to operate two chairlifts, multiple runs and build a solid park setup during its warm weather tenure.
The recent cold weather and fresh coat of snow were welcomed with open arms, as British Columbia is currently battling 120 wildfires, with six listed as major threats. Luckily, Banff Sunshine isn't in any danger at the moment. Hopefully, last year's 400-plus inches of snow will help keep fire danger in the area to a minimum.
In addition to British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado have been lucky enough to receive a relatively cold snap. Unfortunately, the dip in temperatures won't last long, so you might as well soak up the inspiration post below.
