In Japan, mascots are often used for promoting stores, restaurants and other establishments, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Mount Racey at Yubari Ski Resort is no exception. “Melon Kuma,” which directly translates to “Melon Bear,” is the funny and slightly scary mascot for the town of Yubari in Hokkaido, Japan, which is known for its melons and bears.
