It's been a warm and sunny March, which usually isn't something we complain about, but the record-breaking heat and lack of moisture for consecutive weeks have not only eroded our snowpacks across the Mountain West but also our overall morale. Luckily, Ullr is making a reappearance this week, with possible snowfall totals reaching two feet in places, according to OpenSnow.

The first of two storm cycles this week made landfall in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest on Sunday and continues into Monday, pushing colder air and snow showers all the way into northern Idaho and Montana. This first cycle sets the tone for the week, moving further east on Tuesday with light snow possible but the second cycle is the one we should all be paying attention to.
Starting Wednesday, the majority of the West will receive significant snowfall totaling over a foot, possibly reaching two, in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. The storm is forecast to continue into Thursday and Friday, then taper by the weekend. If you've put away your powder skis for the season and have a sick day or two left to use, we suggest keeping them within reach this week.
