SETH THROWS A DOUBLE FRONT FLIP OFF 150-FOOT CLIFF
While skiing at Selkirk Wilderness in interior BC on a greybird day, Seth Morrison threw a giant double front flip off a 150-foot cliff, proving yet again that he is the best of the best, and possibly a little bit looney. “I have no idea what that guy is thinking… what’s going through his head,” says Chris O’Connell. We were skiing for days and days, just deep powder. It was snowing, but we couldn’t get into anything exposed, but he really wanted to do the double front. Everyone was like, ‘I don’t think that’s a good idea.’ But when he gets his mind set on something, he does it.
There was lots of stuff to clear, it was super consequential. I felt bad shooting it in case something happened. But he has the ability to make those decisions. Everyone was holding their breath, Strokes was running safety and we had two guides on scene. It was actually unbelievable. If that landing was steeper, he would have stomped it perfectly. But it’s hard to stomp an air that is probably 150 feet.
“He has balls, but he isn’t a loose canon. He can get a bit frustrated if he doesn’t jump off the biggest cliff or the gnarliest line on a trip. He is such a strong athlete, and I don’t think people know that. He’s not human.”

With larger investment into bigger and better maintained terrain parks and halfpipes, Breckenridge and Keystone are now the training ground of choice for many park and pipe skiers. Take a lap through Keystone’s park and you’ll see X Games veterans like Dumont, Olenick and Schiller along with under-the-radar prodigies like Ahmet Dadali, Mike Clarke and Matt Walker. Since the pinnacle events of the year are held at the best parks in the area, it doesn’t hurt to train at the same venues.

• Tanner Hall wins X Games gold in pipe and lands in first place at the US Open Pipe, one week apart.
