All good things must come to an end. And last week, we found out one of freeskiing's most storied partnerships was coming to a close. Parker White announced on Instagram that he is parting ways with Rossignol after two decades with the brand.
"This year would’ve marked my 20th year (officially) riding for Rossignol," White wrote in the announcement. "I got my first pair of skis from Doug Daniel’s and was deemed a part of the 'Rossi Possi' circa 2003. By 2006 (Age 15) I was being flown to the France HQ to meet the rest of the team and compete in stadium big airs.
"He continued, "Fast forward to today and I’ve spent the last two decades traveling the world, filming, riding, competing, forming friendships, helping design skis and living out little kid Parker’s dream of skiing as much as humanly possible. So THANK YOU ROSSI! My time may be done there, but the memories are forever and I’m extremely excited for the next chapter. Much Love and all the best."
Most professional ski careers don't last 20 years. But just one partnership lasting two decades is damn near unheard of. PWhite's time with Rossi will be remembered as defining the face of freeskiing as we know it today. We can say that without a doubt. In the world of ski movies alone, White and Rossignol brought us numerous segments with Level 1 (Partly Cloudy would have to be a personal favorite), the fantastic films under The Big Picture alongside fellow Rossi rider Chris Logan, the Nothing series and more.
And as far as skis go, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Rossignol's successful Sender Free 110 and other adjacent skis in the Sender lines would not exist today without Parker's influence. He laid the foundations for the original Black Ops line, which set the tone and has influenced Rossi's freeride trajectory, helping the brand establish itself as one of, if not the predominant brand, in the space today.
So what's next for jetskiwhite, and will Fast Friday live on? These questions and more are still up in the air, so be sure to stay tuned to FREESKIER as PWhite finds his next stop.
