Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was "Third Wheel," the new project from Ryan McElmon and Dicky Thomas. Over the last two years, McElmon has been planted in front of the camera, stacking clips day in and day out. A longtime slopestyle competitor, his foray into the backcountry took time, commitment and patience. But we think you'll agree it was well worth it.

McElmon's style is beyond clean. You can tell he's spent years honing his skills to the point where he makes just about anything look effortless, whether it's a huge nine, a switch five or a tactical 180. Behind the curtain, Dicky Thomas went to work cutting together an edit that feels original, creative and captivating. Great skiing, great editing, what more is there to say?

THIRD WHEEL is a two-year video project by Ryan McElmon and Dicky Thomas. This project is the culmination of so many individuals’ hard work and generosity coming together.

"It truly takes a village to create a backcountry video part, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who lent a helping hand. Until recently, we didn’t have a consistent, solidified crew to film with, which is where the name 'Third Wheel' comes from. Transitioning into the world of backcountry filming after a decade of competitive slopestyle skiing came with a steep learning curve, but it also re-ignited my 12-year-old passion for skiing. Words can’t express how thankful I am to all the crews who let me tag along and truly third wheel with them—to learn, help out, and stack shots for others and myself.
