The inaugural winter MoonPay X Games League is still months away but the new teams-based X Games competition has officially announced its three-year partnership with Aspen Snowmass. Host to the Winter X Games since 2002, January in the Roaring Fork Valley has become synonymous with the extreme winter sport and entertainment event.
“As the X Games League expands globally, Aspen remains our crown jewel, the iconic winter stop that athletes, fans, and partners circle on the calendar every year," says Jeremy Bloom, X Games CEO, in a recent press release.
This announcement extends one of the longest-running partnerships in action sports, and the single-most defining event for winter sports culture.
"Aspen Snowmass is where the best in freeskiing and snowboarding come to compete at the highest levels every year," says John Rigney, Chief Business Development Officer at Aspen One, in the same press release. "We've proudly partnered with X Games for more than 25 years because we love their commitment to showcasing the energy and vibrancy of our sports on a global scale."
X Games League is the new team-based competition within the X Games umbrella that brings together both male and female athletes from skiing and snowboarding. As a team, athletes compete for points throughout the season with the opportunity to earn extra prize money beyond podium purses. The inaugural winter event is set to take place at Aspen Snowmass in January 2027 but the draft takes place September 16 at Cosm Los Angeles. Of the 180 best ski and snowboard athletes declared for the draft, only 40 will be selected across the four Clubs. A limited amount of fan tickets will go on sale in August for the live event.
Event dates and additional details for X Games Aspen 2027 will be announced in the coming months.
