In the first chapter of a three-part series, Nikolai Schirmer, along with childhood friends Eirik Verlo and Krister Furnes Kopala, set out on an experiment in sustainable skiing. In episode one of Endless Winter, Skiing Where the Sun Never Rises, Schirmer meets with POW Norway founder and environment consultant, Ørjan Kongsvik Aall, to calculate just how much CO2 the Norwegian freeskier’s activities put out into the environment. After quite the wakeup call, Schirmer and his friends head out on a local ski trip in Northern Norway, where the sun never rises in the winter.
