New lifts in New England

Here"™s a flurry of ski news to keep you cool till snow flies. Jay Peak was bought by long time President Bill Stenger"¦.this is good news as the resort is now US owned "“ after 3 decades of Canadian control by Mont Saint Sauver"™s conglomerate. Stenger put Jay on the map by opening huge acreage of glade skiing which has become Jay"™s calling card. Stenger and his private investors plan to dump upwards of $100 mill on new lifts, snowmaking, and an on-mountain hotel. Exciting news for this northern Vermont resort that typically gets dumped on with about 400 inches of "Jay-cloud" snow.

Sunday River"™s new Chondola is churning along; the installation of this hybrid lift from South Ridge to North Peak will offer skiers and riders a choice "“ a 6-pack chair ride or the comfortable confines of an 8-passenger gondola. All on the same cable "“ cool! Ramped up snowmaking, night skiing, and a new North Paw trail cap off the $14 mill in capital at The River thanks to Boyne.

Killington gets a new lift to the tune of $8 mill, replacing the old Skye Peak Quad will make for better access between Bear Mountain and Skye Peak. The new Skye Peak Express reduces ride time from 13 to 5 minutes. It"™s been a decade since the Big K has seen a new lift. Killington will celebrate 50 years this season.
